The Lake Wales Ridge Conservation Bank
is located in Polk County, Florida, adjacent to the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. The LWR Conservation Bank provides compensatory mitigation for Incidental Take of the sand skink (Neoseps reynoldsi) and blue-tailed mole skink (Eumeces egregious). This allows landowners who wish to develop their property the ability to maintain compliance with the Endangered Species Act. The purchase of sand skink credits will speed permitting time, provide regulatory assurance, and eliminate landowner liability.
The service area for the LWR Conservation Bank includes the counties of Highlands, Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Polk. The LWR Conservation Bank encompasses approximately 475 acres of rare LWR habitat including xeric scrub, interspersed with ephemeral wet prairies.
